Development
of this Event!
This Event is a Work In Progress... Ymp being the sole head at development of this site, it might take anything between 3 months and 4 years for it to become available. For now you may press the Prioritize button if you think you'd be likely to play this...
A World of Modes will be a quiz where you are asked to match equivalent concepts' nomenclatures from different cultures' musicology, asking questions such as "What mode of the Dastgah-e Persian system is equivalent to the Greek Lydian Mode?"

All questions will use use basic concepts such as Note Names and Modes first, but also less generic stuff I'll find to have equivalences in between 2 or more cultures around the World, under different names but being the same or quite the same thing.

Eventually, the questions will turn more and more abstract : "What is the Greek mode name that begins on the degree of the Major Scale represented by the 4th degree of Turkish Scale "Makam Mahur" ?

To help maintaining things interesting for people not familiar with a lot of these multicultural concepts, sometimes after answering Question a window will Fade in with a bit of cultural information that can be used to heighten your future performance, and uses terms you were identified to be familiar with to point to another on which you may still be oblivious.

As in most games on the site, you'll need to reach 100pts in the less time and questions possible, with each question giving out points according to its level, and probably also according to a multiplier growing as you answer greater streaks of questions. Your final score is, as always, minutes took to reach 100pts multiplied by number of questions answered : so lower scores the better you get.

Aspects to develop :
    - Knowledge of Greek,Medieval,Persian,
    Turkish,Arab & Indian musicologies
    (each being its own aspect)
    - Knowledge of Note Names
    - Knowledge of Mode Names
(you choose to work on either of
the last 2 first, and unlock
    the 2nd as you persist)
    - Peripheral Concepts Knowledge
    - Level of questions asked
(based on how many different concepts
    you need to "translate")
    - Answering Speed
    - Highest streak of
    correctly answered questions
